We know that therapy can be intimidating, especially if you are reaching out for the first time, navigating a tough moment, or experiencing a relationship challenge. That’s why, at Connected Threads Counseling, we’re committed to sharing exactly what you can expect at every step of the way.
When you first reach out, you’ll receive an email or phone call from your therapist, who will help you schedule a free 15-minute consultation, if desired.
You can trust that all of your communication with your therapist will be safe, warm, and empathetic. Our consultations are always informative and quick, easily fitting into your busy schedule!
During your free phone consultation with your therapist, you’ll discuss what’s bringing you to therapy, ask any questions you might have, and decide if you’re a good fit for working together.
From there, you’ll discuss scheduling and intake documents, which should be completed prior to your first full appointment. You’ll also be able to confirm your insurance benefits or learn about your out-of-pocket costs.
Your first appointment, whether you are meeting with your therapist individually or with your partner(s), will include gathering background information about your:
Family of origin
Support system
Relationship history
Job background
Current challenges
Expectations for therapy
Anything else that feels important to you
Your second appointment will focus on collaborating to set goals for therapy, then diving into the work!
We also prioritize transparency about our therapy rates, which are the same for all our clients whether you are located in Wisconsin or Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois.
We are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna, which means if you have a BCBS PPO or Aetna PPO plan, you will only be responsible for any copayments, coinsurance, or deductible payments under your policy, rather than the full rate below. We can help you verify your benefits and determine your specific costs!
Online Assessment Fee (First Session Only)
$200 per hour
Online Individual Therapy
$160 per hour
Online Relationship and Premarital Therapy
$180 per hour

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
